A new transmission corridor
ABDAS reported on 2 October that Uganda had formally inaugurated the South Sudan-Uganda Power Interconnection Project. The planned 299-kilometre, 400 kV double-circuit line will link Olwiyo in Uganda to Juba/Gumbo in South Sudan.

Regional power trade
The project is intended to let Uganda export electricity and give South Sudan an alternative to diesel-based generation, while connecting it to the Eastern Africa Power Pool. ABDAS put total cost at $254 million, comprising $121 million for Uganda and about $133 million for South Sudan; NELSAP-CU coordinates administration.
