PGE and Ørsted Complete Dispatch of Four 375 MW Offshore Substation Topsides for 1.5 GW Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted have marked a pivotal milestone in the development of the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind project, completing the fabrication and marine loadout of all four 375 MW offshore substation topsides in Vietnam for transport to Poland.

Modular Offshore Transformer Substations for 107 Turbines

Built under an EPC contract by PTSC Mechanical & Construction in Vung Tau, each topside weighs approximately 2,800 tonnes and houses dual 200 MVA 275/66 kV power transformers and medium-voltage switchgear.

The four platforms will collect generation from 107 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW offshore wind turbines, stepping up string voltage to 275 kV before exporting to the onshore substation in Osiek Lęborski.

Voyage to the Polish Baltic and 2027 Commissioning

The substations are currently underway aboard specialized semi-submersible heavy transport vessels on an eight-week sea journey to the Port of Gdynia.

Offshore installation will commence in early 2027, making Baltica 2 Poland’s foundational offshore renewable generation asset producing enough electricity for 2.4 million households.
