Oriana Power Secures 900 MW / 1,800 MWh Grid BESS Mandate from MSEDCL Across Key Substations in Maharashtra

Indian clean energy firm Oriana Power has been awarded major contracts by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to construct, own, and operate 900 MW / 1,800 MWh of standalone battery storage systems.

Long-Term 15-Year Availability Contracts at 220 kV Nodes

Under the awarded Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPAs), the 2-hour duration facilities will be connected across strategic 220 kV and 132 kV transmission substations in Maharashtra.

The battery installations will provide round-the-clock peak power dispatch, automated secondary frequency reserve, and local reactive power support to heavy agricultural and industrial pump loads.

Standardized Substation Skid Architecture

Oriana Power will deploy modular LFP battery container skids paired with outdoor bidirectional power conversion inverters and step-up dry-type transformers.

Project commissioning will take place in phased tranches through late 2027, accelerating Maharashtra’s goal of integrating 25 GW of renewable capacity into its state grid.
