Connection capacity looks larger than expected need
Agência iNFRA reported on 2 October that Absae calculated about 56 GW of potential connection capacity from an ONS technical note for the planned battery auctions. The group compared this with an estimated 4.5–10 GW of required power for 2028–2030. It also identified 13.7 GW of margin at priority locations that receive a 10% auction scoring bonus.
The estimate is not a final auction result
Absae said 93 of 129 bonus-eligible locations have available margin, concentrated in the North, Northeast and northern Minas Gerais. The article also notes that charging flows constrain access at some network points. The 56 GW figure is the association’s calculation from ONS data; project qualification and final auction demand remain unsettled.
