Nigeria installed 707,765 meters in H1 as 4.8 million customers remained unmetered
NERC data reviewed by Nairametrics show installations rose 71% year on year, while coverage reached 61.51% by June.

A Nairametrics review of NERC quarterly data counted 707,765 electricity meters installed in the first half of 2026, up 71% from 412,792 in H1 2025. The total comprised 357,495 installations in Q1 and 350,270 in Q2. At June 30, NERC counted 7,743,839 metered customers among 12,589,486 active registered customers, a 61.51% metering rate, leaving more than 4.8 million unmetered. Q2 installations included 205,486 under DISREP, 123,833 under MAP, 13,028 under MAF, 7,643 financed by distribution companies and 280 through vendor-financed arrangements.
