Hatch — Lilac lithium facility advances through EPCM
Lilac Solutions selected Hatch as EPCM partner for its proposed Great Salt Lake lithium carbonate facility in Utah. The initial design is 5,000 tonnes annually, with first production planned for 2028. A limited notice to proceed authorizes detailed engineering and early procurement before a final investment decision expected later in 2026.

Reported scope and milestone

The initial design is 5,000 tonnes annually, with first production planned for 2028. Engineering interpretation
The planned process extracts lithium directly from lake brine using ion-exchange media and returns depleted brine to the lake. Engineering must align treatment, extraction, product finishing and the return-water system. Early procurement needs controlled equipment specifications so that supplier commitments remain compatible with a project whose investment approval and full construction authorization are still separate decisions.
Delivery responsibilities
Under EPCM, the engineering firm coordinates design, procurement and construction management while the owner’s contracts define who supplies and builds each package. Procurement records, drawing revisions and site work need a common technical baseline. Acceptance responsibilities should cover equipment testing, quality records and commissioning interfaces. A management appointment therefore needs to be read with its authorized work scope; it does not establish a fixed-price turnkey commitment or prove that the facility is already producing at its planned rate.
