CFE replaced and reinforced Tower 162 on the El Juile–Cerro de Oro 400 kV line after river erosion created a structural risk. The line circuits were re-energized in late August.

Engineering response to erosion

The tower was threatened by erosion caused by the Tesechoacán River changing course. CFE moved the structure about 190 m inland and built a special foundation with piles 23 m deep.
