Announcement details
The signatories were ENPRODE CEO Yüksel Güler and Director General Haydar Nasir Dhahir. The plan envisaged a renewable 15-year concession, an initial capacity of 6000 tonnes/year, a packaging line first and then local manufacturing investment over 24 months.
The agreement aimed to meet Iraqi demand for welding electrodes through local production. ENPRODE’s engineering experience was expected to support a production facility that would reduce reliance on imported products.
Procurement and local production
Local manufacturing investment requires planning material and equipment procurement alongside the production line. ENPRODE’s official procurement description considers technical specifications, delivery time, quality and cost together. Risk analysis and the use of accredited inspection organisations in international purchasing and logistics are also part of its general approach.
From engineering to commissioning
The company’s general EPC services cover scheduling, site preparation, construction, mechanical and electrical installation, testing and commissioning. The HISCO announcement described the transition from packaging to full manufacturing as staged investment. The stated capacity and 24-month programme are targets of the 2019 agreement; they are not current production figures for a completed facility.
