## Engineering perspective

Electrifying steam shifts fuel use toward electrical infrastructure. Grid connection, operating cost and steam-demand profiles influence suitability; the wider carbon footprint also depends on how the electricity is generated.

Engineering interpretation: product ratings and test results should be read within their stated operating conditions. Selection also depends on utility interfaces, protection, maintenance and integration with the receiving plant. Distinguish factory acceptance from installation and site commissioning; the equipment supplier’s scope does not automatically include the complete facility, upstream energy supply or the owner’s wider operating performance.
