The Agriculture Ministry’s cotton office estimates that about 33,000 hectares were planted for the current season and that output could reach about 100,000 tonnes. Cotton is concentrated in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah, with smaller areas in Aleppo and the Ghab region. The official compared this estimate with earlier figures of 26,593 hectares and 79,467.3 tonnes; those are not current-season results.
