Minister cites bread support and wheat storage figures

A deputy economy and industry minister said 150 bakeries had been built or modernized and another 75 were due to enter service before the end of 2026. He said the bread subsidy had risen from about 60% to 72%, costing more than $600 million annually, while distribution was about 6,000 tonnes a day. In the previous wheat-marketing season, about 2.7 million tonnes were received against storage capacity of 1.2 million tonnes, leaving more than 1 million tonnes outdoors.
