# Latakia port receives six fifth-generation container cranes

Latakia port received six fifth-generation rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes on 21 October through its partnership with CMA CGM. The General Authority for Ports and Customs said the equipment is part of an upgrade at Latakia International Container Terminal. The cranes are intended to improve container handling and yard stacking, speed loading and unloading, increase capacity and reduce truck waiting times; those gains were not quantified.
