Deir Ezzor Governorate announced that construction had begun to rebuild the Mayadin bridge across the Euphrates. Governor Ziad al-Ayesh said the Syrian Construction and Development Corporation and Turkish road-construction company al-Barq would carry out the work over 9 months. The governorate said the bridge had been out of service for about a decade and was an important connection for movement and trade between the river’s two banks. Reopening was not reported.
