# Daraa forecasts 35,000 tonnes of olives for the current season

Daraa’s agriculture directorate forecast current-season olive output at about 35,000 tonnes, compared with about 11,000 tonnes last season. The governorate has around 18,000 hectares of olive groves and 3.364 million trees, about 3.1 million of them fruit-bearing. Officials said 37 olive presses were operating and about 11 were out of service. The forecast allocates roughly one-third of the crop to table olives and two-thirds to oil pressing; it is not a completed harvest total.
