The Al-Zeblatani wholesale market in Damascus reported that about 15,000 tonnes of Syrian fruit and vegetables were exported to Gulf markets during September. The shipments travelled in around 600 refrigerated trucks to the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar. A member of the exporters’ committee said each truck carried about 25 tonnes and that border records documented the consignments. The quantities and vehicle count were reported as approximate figures.
