Saudi Arabia urges Gulf states to link digital networks and computing capacity
Saudi Communications and Information Technology Minister Abdullah Al-Swaha outlined the proposal at the GCC ministerial committee’s 30th meeting in Bahrain on 18 October, according to a report published the next day. He called for connected digital infrastructure across member states, covering data, computing, cloud services and AI. The report also attributed 18 terabits per second of total international capacity to Saudi Arabia, after an addition of more than 8.4 Tbps. The proposal is a regional integration agenda, not a completed shared network.
