In its 2 October update, REN said nine-month electricity use was 3.4% above the 2025 record, or 2.9% after weather and working-day adjustment. Renewables supplied 64%: hydro 24%, wind 23%, solar 13% and biomass 5%.

Gas supply and cross-border flows

Natural gas generation met 14% of demand and imports 22%. Gas use totalled 33.2 TWh, up 0.5%; Sines supplied all September demand. REN said year-to-date gas came mainly from Nigeria (58%), the United States (34%) and Russia (8%).
