Cotton harvesting in Raqqa had covered 1,137 hectares and produced about 3,166 tonnes by 7 October, according to the provincial Agriculture Directorate. The planted area totals 13,700 hectares, so harvested fields represented 8.3% of the crop area at the time of the report. Farmers told SANA they were waiting for official marketing arrangements and cited high production costs.
