# Portugal eases fuel-storage and station licensing

## Rules updated

Jornal Económico reported on 3 October that Decree-Law 198/2026 had taken effect that day. It updates a 2002 regime and makes administrative requirements more proportionate to facility risk while retaining safety obligations.

## LPG storage threshold

The report says LPG bottle-storage sites at fuel stations may hold up to 1,560 m³ without licensing if they meet applicable safety rules. This is a permitting change, not a newly announced storage project.
