Minister unveils NPERA and orders committee to oversee transition
The marine and blue economy minister unveiled the Nigeria Ports Economic Regulatory Agency and directed the immediate constitution of a ministerial committee to oversee the transition from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council. The Ports Act had been assented to in June, the report said. The agency is the new regulatory framework for the sector; the announcement did not establish that the transition or the agency’s planned work was complete.
