Nigeria’s capital importation reached $23 billion in 2025, minister says

Trade Minister Jumoke Oduwole said Nigeria’s capital importation rose from more than $12 billion in 2024 to $23 billion in 2025, while Q1 2026 inflows rose 83% year on year.

She said reserves exceeded $50 billion and noted that much of the latest inflow was short-term portfolio investment. The minister called for more long-term capital for factories, infrastructure and productive businesses.
