Nigeria Customs Service said officials from Nigeria, Benin and Cameroon met Afreximbank in Cairo on October 12 to review corridor assessments and identify priorities for the Nigeria–Benin and Nigeria–Cameroon routes. A proposed Customs Declarations Exchange System would connect Nigeria’s B’Odogwu with Benin’s Customs Webb and Cameroon’s CAMCIS; technical testing had occurred, but configuration, API integration, security assessment and pilot acceptance remained before deployment. Assessments cited unreliable power and connectivity and non-functional scanners and weighing facilities at Mfum–Ekok and Sèmè–Kraké. Afreximbank proposed engineering and cost studies followed by separate project packages; no final cost, loan commitment, borrower, financing structure or implementation contract was agreed.
