The first consignment for a planned 10 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) compressed natural gas (CNG) mother station in Esit Eket, Akwa Ibom State, arrived from China. The station had not been commissioned.
Nsik Oil & Gas is developing the project with support from the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund, with the aim of supplying daughter stations across the state’s 10 federal constituencies. The shipment reportedly included 4 reciprocating compressors, dehydration and filtration systems, heat exchangers and 4 generating sets; it had passed a factory acceptance test in China with NMDPRA regulators participating. A consultant said 2 CNG trailers had been ordered and feedstock was expected from nearby gas infrastructure; supply and daughter stations remained planned.
