Mhardeh cotton ginnery resumes work after four-year halt

The Hama facility can process about 12 tonnes per shift as Syria seeks to restore cotton processing.

The Mhardeh cotton ginnery in Hama resumed operations on 30 September after four years out of service, SANA reported on 7 October. The facility receives raw cotton from eastern provinces and can process about 12 tonnes per shift, with a second shift possible depending on crop volumes. Two other ginneries, Al-Assi in Hama and Tishreen in Aleppo, are also operating; high costs and water shortages remain sector challenges.
