Bulk Solar Power Evacuation
The new 400 kV switching station features 12 GIS breaker bays linking the 2000 MW Al Dhafra solar farm to the transmission network.
2 autotransformers rated at 750 MVA each provide 1500 MVA of firm transmission capacity across 65 km of double-circuit overhead lines.
Grid Balancing and Carbon Reduction
Automated voltage regulation equipment manages reactive power fluctuations, maintaining voltage stability within 1 % of nominal ratings.
The energized switching station facilitates the delivery of solar energy to power 200000 homes while preventing 2400000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually.
