Dubai RTA prepares Mahboub AI assistant for linked vehicle services
Dubai’s RTA is preparing an upgraded Mahboub virtual assistant for public rollout. The planned Arabic- and English-language service would coordinate selected vehicle-licensing steps in one conversation, with UAE PASS identity checks and Dubai Sadad payments.

Upgrade announced, public rollout still ahead
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on October 22 that it had upgraded Mahboub, its virtual assistant, with Agentic AI capabilities. The authority described the enhanced version as being prepared for public rollout under its Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030. The announcement is therefore a product-development update, not confirmation that the new capabilities are already available to every customer.
RTA says Mahboub will be able to coordinate connected procedures in response to a user request, alongside the information and services it already provides. A stated example is paying a vehicle fine and then continuing to registration renewal within the same conversation. The aim is to reduce the need to switch among service pages and channels.

Initial scope centres on vehicle licensing
The first service scope listed by RTA includes vehicle-registration renewal, payment of vehicle fines, issuance of a clearance certificate and renewal of number-plate reservations. These tasks can involve a sequence of checks and transactions; Mahboub is intended to coordinate the necessary steps based on what the customer asks it to do.
For identity verification, the stated process uses UAE PASS. Payments use Dubai Sadad. The authority says the service supports Arabic and English, with language models fine-tuned for the local context. The announcement does not specify a public launch date, eligibility rules, transaction limits or whether every combination of services will be supported at launch.

Governance and customer-service claims
RTA says the development is being carried out under its established governance and cybersecurity procedures. It presents the expected benefit as fewer steps and less time and effort for customers. Those are intended outcomes described by the authority; the release provides no measured pilot results, task-completion rate, user study or security audit that would quantify the effect.
A connected conversational flow may make linked services easier to find and complete, but users still need to understand which transaction they are authorizing, how fees or fines are calculated, and when payment has been made. The official release does not explain escalation to a human agent, handling of failed transactions or appeal procedures. These remain practical details to clarify before broad rollout.

What to watch before launch
The next useful update would identify when the enhanced Mahboub becomes publicly available and confirm the final service list, user eligibility, transaction safeguards and support channels. Details on data retention, consent, authentication recovery and cybersecurity review would also help customers understand how a multistep assistant will handle sensitive vehicle and payment records.
For Dubai’s mobility services, the project combines customer-service automation with existing digital identity and payment platforms. The announced scope is deliberately specific to selected vehicle-licensing tasks. RTA has not claimed that the assistant will manage all transport services, operate vehicles, or make regulatory decisions without customer confirmation.
