The mines ministry began a geophysical and geological survey programme intended to improve knowledge of the country’s mineral resources.

Survey programme begins

Mining minister Louis Watum launched the national airborne geophysical and geological mapping project at Ndolo airport in Kinshasa on 5 October. The programme aims to strengthen knowledge of underground resources and guide exploration.

The minister described the campaign as a way to understand the territory and mineral estate more accurately. The launch began a data-gathering effort; it did not announce a new mine or a production target.
