CSEA urges CBN to refine liquidity operations to protect private-sector credit
The Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa urged Nigeria’s central bank to adjust liquidity mop-up operations and money-market yields.
CSEA cited a ₦2.5 trillion open-market operation auction against a ₦2.433 trillion maturity and ₦6.278 trillion in bank placements at the Standing Deposit Facility. It warned that heavy use of high-yield instruments can crowd out productive lending.
