Nigeria’s raw materials summit puts technology-led processing on the agenda

Opening the second Africa Raw Materials Summit in Abuja on 19 October, Nigeria’s Innovation, Science and Technology Minister Kingsley Udeh called for a shift from exporting raw materials toward technology-driven processing and manufacturing. The meeting’s theme, “From African Feedstock to African Factory,” linked science, technology and innovation with local value addition. Udeh framed the call as a continental industrial priority; the announcement described a policy direction, not newly commissioned factories or guaranteed investment.
