UAE–Jordan joint venture begins work on 403-kilometre railway project

A groundbreaking in Aqaba marked project implementation for the 403-kilometre route in Jordan.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed witnessed the groundbreaking for the Aqaba–Al-Shidiyeh–Maan Railway Project on 5 October in Aqaba. Jordan-UAE Railway Company is developing the project through a joint investment of approximately US$2.5 billion. The planned railway network is 403 kilometres long and links Aqaba, Al-Shidiyeh and Maan. Groundbreaking marks the start of project implementation; it does not mean the railway is complete or operational.
