Targets to 2040
ADAFSA presented Abu Dhabi’s Agricultural Transformation Strategy, which targets raising self-sufficiency in staple foods from 30% to 70% by 2040 and cutting irrigation-water consumption by 49%. It also aims for 70% of farms to use advanced agricultural technologies and for agriculture to contribute AED 34.6 billion to the emirate’s GDP. The authority said the strategy includes 13 programmes spanning productivity, water and energy efficiency, food waste, AI and other technologies. These are stated targets, not achieved outcomes.
