## Reading the announcement

An award, engineering phase, equipment milestone and start of operations each describe a different point in a project lifecycle. The contract scope and responsible legal entity matter as much as the company named in a headline. Design services do not establish that construction has started, equipment supply does not prove full-plant EPC delivery, and an initial operating milestone is not the same as completed commercial operation.

## Project considerations

Corporate indicators should be read with their period, definition and scope. Revenue, backlog, new awards and rankings measure different things; none alone establishes that a project is complete.
