Scaling 1,500 MW / 3,600 MWh Storage Across ERCOT and MISO
Energy storage developer and operator Jupiter Power LLC has closed $1.4 billion in new financing across four transactions, bringing its cumulative capital raised since inception to over $3 billion. The capital supports the deployment of 10 utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) totaling 1,500 MW / 3,600 MWh of flexible capacity across the ERCOT and MISO electricity markets.
A core milestone of the transaction series was a $536 million senior secured debt and tax equity bridge facility dedicated to three major Texas projects: Tidwell Prairie II, Bee Branch, and Barton Branch, which are entering commercial operation.
Grid-Forming Inverters and Resiliency Against Weather Extremes
The installations utilize high-density lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) chemistries paired with advanced grid-forming inverters capable of instantaneous sub-second active power injection.
Operating in the ERCOT territory, where summer heatwaves push wholesale reserve margins to critical thresholds, and MISO, where winter freeze events challenge thermal generation, these multi-hour BESS assets act as virtual peakers and dynamic stability anchors for transmission utilities.
