Joint Venture Anchoring South Korean and Regional Supergrid Projects
GE Vernova and South Korean industrial equipment manufacturer LS Electric have finalized a joint venture agreement to co-develop, manufacture, and deliver Voltage-Sourced Converter (VSC) High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems.
The joint venture positions both companies to capture accelerating multi-gigawatt offshore wind transmission connections and regional interconnection corridors across South Korea and the wider Asia-Pacific market.
Advanced 3 GW ±525 kV Valve and Medium-Voltage UPS Systems
In tandem with the venture, GE Vernova announced its commercial next-generation ±525 kV VSC converter valve capable of continuous transmission ratings up to 3 GW per bipolar scheme. The valve incorporates modular multilevel topology with fast bypass capabilities and enhanced fault ride-through performance.
Additionally, GE Vernova rolled out its medium-voltage uninterruptible power supply (MV-UPS) architecture designed to decouple high-load AI data center step-changes from the bulk transmission grid, preserving power quality and preventing harmonic distortion.
