Long-Duration Industrial Peak Shaving and Solar Smoothing
The utility-scale BESS integrates high-density liquid-cooled Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) containers directly coupled to OCP’s expanding 100 MW on-site photovoltaic solar farm.
Operating on a 5-hour discharge profile, the system provides 125 MWh of flexible energy arbitrage, reducing high-tariff evening grid demand while dampening solar intermittency on the Moroccan national transmission grid (ONEE).
Advanced PCS and Grid-Forming Controls for Desert Environments
The installation employs Envision’s intelligent Power Conversion Systems (PCS) engineered to operate continuously in desert ambient conditions reaching up to 50°C without derating.
With integrated synthetic inertia and droop voltage regulation algorithms, the storage plant serves as a model for decarbonizing mining and fertilizer production across North Africa.
